Training Home Health Workers to Educate Older Adults with Diverse Needs

Making Impact:

Oral Health Ohio and Area Agency on Aging, Region 9 are collaborating on a pilot “Train the Trainer” initiative to include oral health prevention in home health visits with older adults.

Good oral health is one of the major contributors to older adults’ quality of life and is essential to good general health. Older adults who can keep their teeth have improved dietary intake and reduced risk of malnutrition. Older adults who report they have good oral health also participate more in social activities and are more mobile—both keys to successful aging.

Stay tuned for updates on outcomes of this initiative!
