Oral Health Ohio is pleased to announce the following budget updates for the 2024-2025 biennium:
5160-5-01 Medicaid Fee Increase – Dental Services
Ohio Medicaid has finalized a 93% increase in dental fees for most services effective January 1, 2024. This increase will help to sustain Ohio's safety-net dental provider network and make it more financially viable for dentists to care for Medicaid patients. The fee increase is the result of efforts by statewide and grassroots advocates, and consumers.
ORC 3702.87 Loan Repayment – Dental Practices Serving Patients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
The budget has allocated funding to support dental practices that serve a high proportion of individuals with developmental disabilities. This funding will be used to provide loan repayment assistance to dentists who work in these practices, making it easier for them to recruit and retain qualified staff. This initiative is part of the existing Dentist Loan Repayment Program and aims to address the shortage of dental care providers for individuals with developmental disabilities.
